What is a pool clarifier?
March 08/2020 There are several different types of swimming pool clarifiers that can be used, depending on the issue that you are trying to prevent and/or clear up.
If your water is cloudy, it is recommended to use a clarifier that deals specifically with cloudy water. This type of clarifier is added directly through your swimming pool skimmer and is pulled into the filter system. Regardless of which type of filter system you have (cartridge filter, DE filter, or sand filter), this type of clarifier is perfectly safe and very effective. It makes your filter tacky which allows the fine particles that are making the pool cloudy to be trapped in the filter system. This allows you to backwash or rinse the filter to remove the particles which are causing the problem. It is recommended to use a product such as GLB Clear Blue on a weekly basis to help maintain clarity in the pool.
If you are dealing with a lot of body oils, an enzyme clarifier is what will work best. This type of clarifier is added directly to the pool water and it helps to eat away at those films that like to gather on the service of the water and at the waterline. We also recommend adding this product weekly to prevent excessive build up!
All clarifier are not created equal. There are many different manufactures out there and the qualities of them all vary. It is important to find a professional grade clarifier that you can use on a regular basis that will work effectively.
