Why do I need metal control for my hot tub if I’m on city water?
March 13/2020 Unfortunately a lot of our Omaha metro city water (including Council Bluffs and surrounding Iowa and Nebraska towns) have a high metal content in their city water sources. The metals that can be found include: calcium, iron, copper, rust, and magneese. If the metals are not protected in your hot tub water, it will cause an array of issues including: scale build up that is rough like sand paper, water that is tented either green, yellow, or brown depending on the main component, and can leave residue and deposits throughout your hot tub shell, plumbing and internal equipment. In order to protect the water in your hot tub, a Metal and Stain Control product will need to be added to prevent this from occurring by adding the solution to the fresh water after you have refilled and then waiting 24 hrs before doing any further chemical maintenance or adding. With enough of the metal control added to the water, these problems can be solved before they even occur!
