There’s A HUGE Difference Between 101 & 102 in Your Hot Tub!
March 14/2020

Picture this….it’s a beautiful summer day in Nebraska, temps are creeping up into the high 90’s…and then…it hits 101 degrees! That always seems to be the time when all of the Facebook pictures of everybody’s car thermometers start popping up because nobody can believe that it got over 100 degrees! Now…picture the next day is just as beautiful…but it hits 102 degrees! You probably wouldn’t notice the difference or make a bigger deal about it because it pretty much feels like yesterday right? This is totally not the case when it comes to the difference between 101 and 102 degrees in your hot tub!

Why such a difference?
Most people will laugh when you tell them that you find your hot tub more comfortable at 101 vs 102 degrees. They might even say you are plumb crazy….however, any true “hot tubber” knows the truth behind this! There is a HUGE difference in 1 or 2 degrees when it involves you fully submersing yourself in it. Call us all crazy, but until you have experienced it for yourself you just won’t know! So what’s your favorite temperature to keep your hot tub at?

The Fight Between Soakers
The next battle that most hot tubbing couples face is the “He wants/She wants” temperature battle. He might like it at 103 and you say it’s perfect at 102. So what do you do now? Unlike some new cars where you have dual controls, where the passenger and the driver can have different temp settings to keep them comfortable, hot tubs are not uniformed with this feature, yet. It can be a personal battle that you will have to work thru and find the perfect temp for everyone. Keep in mind, the hotter you keep the water the less time they recommend staying in it. If you enjoy lounging and talking for an hour each night, it’s best to not keep the temperature 102-104 degrees, but to keep it closer to 100 degrees.

Maintaining Temps –
If your hot tub is on 110v, you will notice that your hot tub may lose a couple degrees each night during your soak, especially in the winter  months. On a 110v model, the pumps can not be run on high speed while the heater is on…it just pulls too many amps. On a 240v system, you are able to enjoy the benefits of the heater keeping up with your perfect temperature as well as enjoying your jets on high speed! This is something to keep in mind when finding the perfect temperature for your hot tub and how long you typically like to soak for. On a 110v model, keeping the temperate a degree or two over what you usually prefer it may be best, because by the time you are finished with your soak, the water will have cooled off close to that temperature.
