We just went through the whole scenario in the last tip, “#9: DON’T WASH YOUR SUITS” but how do I get rid of the foam I already have in my hot tub? We have showed you how to prevent it in the future, but how can I get rid of it right now, so I can comfortably use my spa this evening without being attacked by mounds of suds? There is a product that can be used, called Foam Out, which will temporarily make it more manageable to deal with.
Small Amounts Go Along Way!
The main thing to remember is to not go overboard on using this product. A whole bottle of Foam Out will not take care of the issue faster, or eliminate it from happening again (trust us!!) The key is to only use a very little amount of these foam out products if needed! A small little squirt into the foam should suppress it until your next use. The one thing to remember with foam, once it’s in there you will usually have to contend with it every time you get in your hot tub until you drain.
Let Your Spa Sanitize Your Suits!
As tip #9 “Don’t Wash Your Suits” mentioned, do not wash your suits anytime after any use in your spa. There is plenty of sanitizer in your hot tub to keep your suits properly sanitized and clean without having to put them through the washer. This is extremely important to remember. It only takes one time washing your suits to cause 3-4 months worth of problems in your spa.
Shower First!
Another recommendation is to shower prior to getting in the spa, which will eliminate a lot of the other items that are on our bodies, such as hair products, body oils and makeup. These items can also get in the water and cause foam to occur, usually not in the same excessive amounts as it would with washing your suit. Keep in mind that everything that comes off your body when taking a shower or bath, will also come off when soaking in your hot tub. Hot water opens up your pores and allows all of those things including sweat, perspiration, and bacteria’s to come out into the water. It is important to keep the water treated to prevent the build up of bacteria’s and to keep your hot tub filters clean and replaced when needed so they can continue to capture all these particles that are in the water!
TIP: A pint sized bottle of a Foam Out product should last you upwards of 6 months! If you are going through it quicker than that, it may be an indication that you are using too much of the product at a time.
