Aqua Palace’s Anniversary (History in the Making)

Have you ever thought of a hobby as a career? One of those little ideas that snowballs into something with a life of it’s own? That is sort of the Aqua Palace story.
Our owners, Scott and Cindy, both had other occupations, Scott was involved with the family diesel business and Cindy working at a bank. Getting a hot tub of their own was something they thought others in their sleepy, little town would enjoy as much as they did. And so it started. That was 1994.
As the business grew, other opportunities began to present themselves. The big city, a mall location, contracts, manufacturers, trade shows. Can you feel that snowball gaining speed? And size? In the fall of 1998 a second location was opened in Council Bluffs. This move to expand the business made it necessary for Cindy to leave her banking career and work full time on their “hobby”. More contracts, more venders, more trade shows and a changing economy allowed for additional growth and the hobby becoming the complete focus of the owners.
In 2002 a property came on the market that Scott had been saying for a long time would make a great Aqua Palace location. After months of paperwork, blood, sweat and tears, the move was complete to the permanent location of Aqua Palace. With this move came the opportunity to add an outdoor show garden with multiple pools displayed, an outdoor sauna house and play systems. Along with this growth came the expansion of dual warehouses to store the inventory and equipment necessary to install hot tubs, aboveground and award winning in-ground pools. The larger showroom allowed for double digit hot tubs on display as well as multiple saunas and all the chemicals and accessories needed for hot tub and pool maintenance. This huge expansion called for both owners to be working full time in the business in the Omaha metro area and leave behind the small town store, for now. In addition to designing and building backyard vacation spots, Scott teaches Certified Pool Operator classes to certify the maintenance people taking care of the pools at the hotels and apartment complexes around the Omaha/Council Bluffs area. September marks eleven years in the new larger location. Time has flown as their family has grown, right along-side the business. The Aqua Palace Empire will continue to serve the Omaha metro area for years to come with ever growing products and services, all thanks to that hobby many years ago.
