What is folliculitis?Folliculitis occurs when bacteria gets into your hair follicles and causes an infection. Your skin will become blotchy with red spots, which will itch something terrible. The blisters can even be puss filled. To read more about this condition, click here.
How to prevent?Always checking your hot tub on a daily basis and maintaining the proper levels per CDC code:
- Chlorine levels of 3 parts per million (ppm) or slightly higher
- Bromine levels of 5ppm or slightly higher
- pH between 7.2 and 7.8.
This will insure that your water is always properly balanced and that you can adjust your levels once they start to slightly fall away from these parameters, prior to bacteria taking over. Bacteria grows at such a quick rate, even over night the bacteria can triple in force! This means that even by morning, you would have to add at minimum 3 times as much product to correct the situation than if you had tested it before your levels were completely to 0.
