How do I know its time to replace my hot tub filters?
March 13/2020 The filters in your hot tub play a important role in keeping your hot tub water clean and crystal clear. If they need to be replaced, you will find it very hard to keep the water in balance properly and there may be some haze to the water. Here are some great tips on when it’s time to change your filters (or when it’s been way too long!)
Average Life of Hot Tub Filter
The average life for a hot tub filter is 9-12 months. Replacing it on an annual basis will usually insure that you are getting the best filtration possible (and the least amount of headaches and water quality issues). Keeping a second set of filters on hand will allow you to rotate the filters with every water change, allowing you to stretch out purchasing new filters for a little longer!

Pleats should still be WHITE
One of the biggest misconceptions is that the filters should be very dirty looking, or brown in color, before they need to be replaced. If they are dirty to the point that there is no white showing on the pleats, especially after rinsing out the filter, then you are way past due for a new filter. Don’t let your filter get too dirty.
Bands should still be intact
The bands that go around the outside of the spa filters are very important to the structure and overall function of the hot tub filters. If the bands are cracked, lose or broken it is recommended to dispose of the filter and replace it immediately.
Important tips:
Never wash your hot tub filter in your dishwasher. You don’t want stagnant bacteria from your hot tub filter to reside in your dishwasher the next time you go to clean a load of dishes.
Be cautious when using pressure washers to rinse out your hot tub filters, as too much force could puncture or damage the bands or pleats.
Keep filters rinsed out on a monthly basis in order to make them last 9-12 months. This will also keep your water the cleanest it can be!
