Remove sand filter drain cap on the bottom of the sand filter tank. Leave cap off for the winter time to allow all moisture to drain out, so the tank does not freeze or crack.
Rotate control valve handle to the WINTERIZE position.
Remove all filter connection hoses completely - pump to filter hose, skimmer and return hoses and any backwash hoses that may still be attached.
Remove motor from the base, drain and clean. Place in shed, garage or basement where it will not freeze. Place any small plugs, caps or orings in the inside pump pot and lock lid so you can easily find them next year.
Make sure drain cap is left off over the winter time, all hoses and the pump have been unhooked and removed and that the control valve is placed in the Winterization position.
