Heavy metals such as mercury, lead, cadmium and arsenic are abundant in our environment and many of the things we use on a daily basis. That is super scary! One of the few ways to actually remove these toxins we are around every single day is using a sauna on a regular basis. A sauna allows us to sweat out the toxins through our pores, which helps to keep our bodies more regulated.
Did you know that Sweating can also:
Eliminate phthalates which are used in plastic toys, cooking utensils, fragrances, nail polish, cosmetics and paints?
Eliminate BPA which is used to make clear plastics, cash register receipt paper, water pipes, and electronics? BPA has been linked to obesity, early puberty and even miscarriage.
Eliminate heavy metals such as arsenic, lead, mercury and cadmium. These are known carcinogens which are harmful to our heart, brain and kidneys. Some of these heavy metals are actually found in our water, food, cigarettes and industrial emissions.
Infrared saunas have become the norm over the years to help release these toxins, as the heat penetrates deeper into the muscles to promote sweating and toxin secretion.
How long do I stay in a sauna?
It is recommended to start out slowly, with 10 min sessions and work your way slowly up to 30-40 mins sessions every few days. For more information on how long to use your sauna, check out our blog about how a sauna can keep you healthy in the new year.
