How do I drain my hot tub?
March 08/2020 It is recommended that you empty your hot tub every 3-4 months, as the chemicals and body oils become saturated in the water which makes it hard to keep it balanced and clear. This leads us to a popular question for many new hot tub owners with "How Do I Drain My Hot Tub?"
The easiest way to drain the hot tub, is to utilize the drain port on your hot tub. This may be located on the base of your hot tub or inside the motor compartment. All you have to do is shut off the power to the hot tub, screw on your garden hose and open the drain and it will naturally siphon out. Although this is the easiest way to drain, it can still take several hours to drain and will normally leave several inches of water still in the bottom of the hot tub.
For a more efficient way to drain your hot tub, you can use a sump pump. These pumps can be picked up at your local hardware store or we do carry them at Aqua Palace as well! Once the power to the hot tub is shut off, you can screw your garden hose onto the sump pump, place it in the middle of the footwell of the hot tub and plug it in. This will drain your hot tub at a much quicker rate.
The chemical residual that is in your water will not harm your grass and or nearby plants, so don't be afraid to use it to water your yard! The excessive minerals and oils that are in the water are actually good for your plants! Reuse and Recycle!
